Here at Smart Blondes we raise a limited number of pups a year. Because each of these “blessed events” pass so quickly, we tend to wring out every moment we can.

From the beginning, we photograph the whelp and the puppies as they grow up to be eight weeks old. All families with a deposit will receive photographs chronicling the phenomenal growth stages of the little ones. We take photographs of the puppies’ first opening of their eyes, the first time they push up on their front legs to peer over the wall of the whelping box, and of their first steps on all four wobblies.  We wouldn’t miss the opportunity to photograph their first meal at four weeks old,

and at five weeks when they have outgrown their whelping box. After a couple of days of exploring the roomier indoor puppy pen the most fun day of  photographing happens. The day we open the door to the world outside!!                   What a lot to learn in one day! Space! Room to run! The idea of running and playing with all the space a puppy can find!

This is a great day for us and the pups alike. From this day on through their remaining weeks with us, each day brings a new adventure.  We clip their nails, scratch their ears, and cuddle them in ours laps. Your puppy will be a well socialized, confident little golden eager to become a part of your family.  They will grow up to have endearing attitude, irresistible expression, lovely shiny golden coats and terrific personalities. That is what their bloodlines dictate.

It is a good life for a puppy at Smart Blondes! All breeding stock at Smart Blondes is health cleared on hips, elbows, heart and eyes. We are a small kennel located in north central Indiana. All our puppies are bred to AKC standard, with the wonderful temperament that a Golden is known for. The fact that they are drop-dead gorgeous is an added bonus. We live on 16 acres with a 2 acre pond for lots of fun and exercise.

The girls live in a heated and air conditioned house with their own chef, waitress, personal hairdresser, grounds-keeper, chauffeur and of course 24 hour maid service. Each girl has her own room with a bed, bone and favorite toys. An acre is fenced in for all to run and play. We have Golden’s that are dark golden and very light golden, and all the shades of golden in between. We have dogs for field work, tracking, therapy, show quality, and high quality pets. All our puppies are sold with AKC registration. This is our full time occupation. That means we have plenty of time to love and care for each and every Golden. Many of our puppies have been purchased by organizations to be trained for assistance dogs in service work.
